An Evening of Hebrew Interfaith Chanting
Friday, May 16 • 8 p.m.
$10 donation
Come enjoy chants in Hebrew, which scientific studies have placed alongside Sanskrit as a uniquely vibrational language. No prior familiarity with Hebrew is necessary, and there is definitely no need to be Jewish! Some chants will follow the beautiful, kabbalistic practice of welcoming Queen Sabbath, and others will be based in short meditation techniques to help establish the kavannah (the meditative intention of the chant) and mystical teachings.
Rabbi Andrew Hahn, the Kirtan Rabbi, holds regular Kirtans at IYI as well as around the country. A long-time martial arts instructor with a Ph.D. in Jewish philosophy, “Reb Drew” laces his simple, alluring chants with meditation techniques and short kabbalistic teachings.
