"The Game That Started It All"
Street Fighter II was the game that created all the buzz in Arcades for fighting games in 1991. At the time there weren't that many good fighters in Arcades until 1992 when Midway and SNK wanted to get in on the competition by bringing out their weapons. Midway brought Mortal Kombat to the table and it nearly destroyed Street Fighter II because of the violence and it attracted a much more mature audience due to all the gore and blood.

Street Fighter II was just an average simple original fighting game with special moves of its own but no blood or anything realistic as Mortal Kombat.

Street Fighter II came to consoles in 1992 and everyone got their hands on it, the game sold out quickly at stores especially the Super Nintendo version. I was never able to play Street Fighter II in the arcades, people would flood the game floor like crazy but it was much more wilder for Mortal Kombat.

Street Fighter II is a simple fighting game, you have your kick, punch, jump, and block buttons. There are also special moves you can perform in the game, each of the 8 characters have their own unique move such as Kens fire uppercut, Chung Li's spinng bird kick, Gyu's blade upper cut kick, or Blanka's spinning flip.

Street Fighter II was also the first fighting game that started the whole world tour thing, like before every fight begins you select your character and then above the select character is a globe of countries of where the character is located and the announcer will annouce that destination like "India, USA, Thailand, Spain, China, Japan, Brazil, and etc."

Music is fantastic too, as well as the sound effects. It fits really well into the game with the characters hometown. No other fighting game has ever pulled this one off except for Street Fighter II.

If you own a Super Nintendo this one is worthy of being apart of your collection. Plus the art work on the front cover of the game as listed above this review is indeed convincing. - Vincent , posted 11/16/06
