Soulful taxims by an oud master.
It was a pleasure to play at bush baby last night, Dec.20th with Sounds of Taraab. Thanks to all our fans for coming out and making the evening a great party...You packed the place!

Hope you all enjoyed the music, Sarah's singing, the dance of Olga El, Tiye and Rami, Mike and myself.

And, those of you were there, will remember Haig Manoukian's mastery on the oud. It was one of those times when I wish I had a recording device of sorts, because the taqsim he performed in front of "Eni Wana Damu" was, as you will all agree, mind boggling.
Haig is a master, an Ustad of the oud, one of the greatest on the planet, few would doubt. His comprehension of maqam and modal structure is amazing, and he is just flipping out lately playing this East African stuff. Last night, he took us all by surprise, and took us to the Moon. The group of people there from Zanzibar simply went crazy for Haig's solo. He had alot to say.

Check him out wherever he plays, and do come down again and hear this living legend perform. Sounds of Taraab has some dates coming up in January, 2009. We'll keep ya all posted!
