Angel L. Brown is bringing the stories of Black lesbian women out in Desperate for Love
"Sometimes we hold ourselves†back from succeeding. We must move out our own way and just make it happen - no excuses", Brown explains. A self-taught filmmaker with a musical theatre and teaching background in video production & performance, Brown is stepping out with a purpose in mind, to tell stories of women who are marginalized and love deeply. She has a vision and knows that the world will soon take notice.
Introspective and challenging the mainstream "Desperate For Love" is the story of a Black lesbian woman who's been out of the dating scene for quite some time explores ways to find love, only to find love in all the wrong places. Desperate for Love, she goes through all the drama that comes along with finding true love only to realize she needs to first love herself.
Angel Brown is fierce, "I'm not looking to break into Hollywood, if anything Hollywood is going to come knocking on my door. Yvonne Weldon from Sisters in Cinema said it best, "If we don't support our images...who will?" Angel so candidly expresses. With screenings at venues such as the Women of Color Festival at UC Santa Cruz, Reel Venus Film Festival, Oakland International Black LGBT Film Festival, Act Now Foundation, and Atlanta's See Us In the Life Film Festival- Desperate For Love is steadily gaining momentum.
