"Outer space is so boring unless its Star Wars"
By 1993 the glory days of Double Dragon had passed. Double Dragon 3 had been released in 1990 severely hurting the series, and one-on-one fighters, lead by Street Fighter II, were the new rage. Add to that the fact that the cartoon was already airing, and the “movie” was right around the corner, and, well, it was a far cry from the days of Double Dragon and Double Dragon II. Enter Tradewest, who had had great success with Battletoads and owned some kind of rights to Double Dragon.

So, they put out a crossover game, and while it’s certainly an odd combination, the resulting game was ultimately successful, if not really a part of the Double Dragon canon.

The controls in this game are well done. You have your typical buttons for an average beat em up game (punch, kick, and jump) Then there is the directional pad for walk, double tap left or right (run).
There are 6 levels in all, most are easy, others are quite challenging. I prefer the original double dragon games instead which is why Super Double Dragon is my all time favorite out of the entire series.

The graphics are decent, as well as the music in the game. You fight enemies from previous double dragon game and a few enemies from The battle toads. All the bosses in the game are from Battletoads previous games. When I first played this in 1993 I use to die constantly.

Double Dragon And Battletoads is not all that fun to me, its kind of boring because all the stages take place in space on some space craft, or flying a space craft. The levels look really different in the Super Nintendo version, as well as the bosses and enemies. There are other versions as well including Nintendo, and Gameboy but the graphics are horrible on those two systems.

The boss battle music is quite catchy to say the least and I also love that victory music too!

Despite the fact that I hated this game, it is quite addictive especially on two players. There are two different two player modes one mode allows you to hit your partner, the other mode will let you freely punch up close together without hitting eachother so the first mode makes everything more challenging. - Vincent , posted 11/15/06
