Freecycle NYC FreeMeet is this Saturday,Jan 21 11-4PM 6th St Community Center
I have managed to get some badly needed wiccan books through this (despite other peoples reservation about buying used craft related items). I got a nice sweater and a pair of jeans. This event is done through their e-list FreecycleNYC. I will post their link in next post. Don't need to wait for this event. The e-list is a more scaled down version where first dibs gets whatever is offered by individual people. I got a futon mattress out of it. The convenience is you can get a lot of stuff without trapsing through all the 5 boroughs. A little more convenient than a Carroll Garden stoop sale. I really believe in Freecycle. I met some really nice people through it. This group is great for artists who are always looking for mediums they can use without spending anything. I got a box of dropper bottles that I hope to finish decorate and sell by next Pagan Pride Day or Samhain unless I am lucky enough to get money for Starwood or one of the other festivals. The details for the FreeMeet is below. The only drawback to this is you must bring bags or carts whathave you to carry everything home.
Freecycle NYC FreeMeet
When: Saturday,January 21 from 11am to 4pm
Where:Sixth Street Community Center,located at 638 East 6th Street between Avenues B & C in Manhattan.
This is shaping up to be a great event. We will have THREE garment racks (and a possible fourth was offered up minutes ago) for you to rifle through, and we'll keep refilling them all day. Interested in volunteering in the "clothing department"? We could use a few more helpers.
If you've worked retail, if your friends rely on you as a
shoppping buddy, this job is for you!
Of course, the event is not just for clothing--you can bring any
reusable item to give away, as long as it can be carried away by
hand, in a tote bag or in a grocery cart. No furniture or other
large items please!
If you cannot make it Saturday or would like to drop off donations
ahead of time, you can do so on Friday from 9pm to 10:30 at the
event location.
