"A little too slow for a fighting game"
At the time of my day as a child I loved playing fighting games, beat em up's, and somtimes adventure games if I was in the mood for them. But there was one fighting game besides Street Fighter II I played until my finger got sore and that game was called "Fatal Fury."

Andy Bogard is Terry's younger brother, both of them are in a tournament to fight against a man who calls himself "Geese Howard." Geese murdered the Bogard brothers father and now they set out to South Town facing off with numerous enemies until reaching the crime boss himself.

Fatal Fury basically focuses itself around a trio of three young martial artists who are out to get revenge in a tournament. So They call themselves "Fatal Fury King Of Fighters."The name of the three fighters are Andy Bogard , Terry Bogard, and world famous kick boxer Joe Higashi.

Terry Bogard became my favorite Fatal Fury character of all time and I also like him in the King Of Fighters series too. Three characters in a fighting game is not allot, it actually makes things less interesting to say the least but I believe that SNK just wanted to experiment with a new formula.

There is the world tour aspect like Street Fighter II but there is no announcer to announce the location. You do get to fight in some interesting places such as the subway (Duck Kings territory), where a gang of punks are watching you duke it out with eachother, then there is a weird stage called the Amusment Park where you have to fight this huge fat bastard. The bosses do pose a threat in this game, because of the rather difficult fighting system. Getting punched or kicked or anything will take away a massive chunk full of your life bar. You can also go in and out of the screen which is somthing you'll never see in any other 2D fighting game.

Like always you have a standerd punch, jump, and kick button. There are also special moves for each individual character, of course Terry has the best and most effective special moves out of all of them. Terry moves are also quite easy to master while the other two characters will take some time to learn.

The music and sound in the game is very weak, and need a whole lot of work done to it in order to improve. ALthough some of the music was inspiring and easy to listen to.

Fatal Fury was a wrecked game, and was missing to many key elements that could have made this one a perfect game next to Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.

Fatal Fury is a simple fighting game that started out poorly but it did manage to bring out tons of sequels including the "Real Bout Fatal Fury series."

If it wasn't for Fatal Fury, The King Of Fighters series would have never been created.

I plan on buying all of the Fatal Fury games including Real Bout Fatal Fury 1,2, and Fatal Fury Special.

Even though Fatal Fury is slow, its still a great fighting game. After all if it wasnt for Fatal Fury I probably would have never liked Terry Bogard *the guy with the red hat on the cover of the case* - Vincent , posted 11/18/06
