I stumbled on this weird Chinese Massage place, tucked behind and amongst the vendors of fake watches and handbags on Canal Street. Getting there is something like a scene out of Blade Runner. Look for a narrow stairway leading to the 2nd floor. If you blink you miss it. The salon itself feels like a brothel, with red hues and lace, but I'm pretty sure it's not. They take their massage pretty seriously, and it's strong. At the time of this writing, an hour massage is $42 (they offer smaller time increments if you're in a hurry), but please note that the massages do not include the feet. If they ask you during the massage if you want your feet done, they are not doing it to be nice. Footrubs cost extra, so ask how much. A full-on 40-minute footrub is an additional $28.00. I've found that this distinction is the status quo among Chinese backrub places in NY for some reason. Still, whenever I'm in NY I keep going back.
