The Best Turkish & Middle Eastern Music & Dance Venue in NYC!!
Every time I go to this place, I end up staying all night! They have different lineup of musicians and dancers that are listed on the calendar on their website. They sometimes have Balkan Night, too, which is pretty cool. Romski Boji plays there sometimes. Every Wednesday though, they have a regular band - totally exuberant Turkish band with the best players (that play outside their own community) in NYC every Wednesday - Hassan Issakut on kanuun & vocal, Seido Salifoski on dumbek, Ismail Lumanovski on clarinet, Tamer on guitar, Alby Roblejo on frame drums. I highly recommend it!!! Food is really good, too. They also have an extensive selection of wine as well - although I'm not a good judge, cos I don't drink. I understand "meyhane" means wine bar in Turkish. - kazuki , posted 12/05/05
