Even though the they're a bit overpriced for their diner-type food, the ambiance and decor are worth it. Other than the atmosphere. The food at this place sucked. It was very bland on both occasions I went there. On both occasions the people I went with raved about the place, which lead me to believe that it was just trendy. Cool to say good things about this pretty diner with boring salads and cold food that would be served warm in a decent kitchen. A far as I'm concerned the King of Yaffa is naked. Yaffa, overall, is great. The full-of-itself East Village vibe gets a little tiresome but it's still a wonderful hangout, great place to have an interesting conversation with one other person or a small group. I used to live in NYC and one of my favorite resaurants is Yaffa Cafe in the East Village ( 1st Ave & Ave A I believe.) It is open 24 hours. The place is funky and has a ton of character.
