R.I.P. Arnold Drake
I just heard from Pam Drake, Arnold's daughter, that Arnold Drake
passed
away 12:05 pm today, Monday, March 12, 2007. The doctors say pneumonia
and
septic shock were the causes.

Sadly,

An all around professional, Dave Cockrum! Fyi...
Thank you.
Wolverine was created by Herb Trimpe and Len Wein. The name 'Wolverine' was suggested by Roy Thomas, after Dave Cockrum had used that name for a character two years before, and John Romita Sr. designed the costume. - Scotti , posted 12/08/06

He and his work will be missed.
Dave Cockrum created Nightcrawler of The New X-Men.
Two of my favorite comics with Dave's art were John Carter #1 by Marvel, where Dave inked Gil Kane and Giant Size Avengers #2, where Dave and Neal Adams inked Dave's pencil art.
Dave was also underrated as a major artist on The Legion of Super Heroes by DC Comics.
Dave was among a grand assembledge of creators behind The X-Men new and old, including Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Roy Thomas, Len Wein, Chris Claremont, John Byrne, Terry Austin, Joe Rubinstein, Bob Wiacek, John Romita Sr. and Jr., Werner Roth, Arnold Drake, Neal Adams, Tom Palmer, Alex Toth, Vince Colletta, Paul Smith, Jim Steranko, Mark Silvestri, Dan Green, Bob McLeod, Brent Anderson, Jim Lee, Scott Williams and others... - Bub , posted 12/05/06
